About Carbon Training International

Practical carbon capability for professionals and organisations.

Carbon Training International is a specialist professional education business focused on carbon accounting, carbon management, climate disclosure and practical organisational capability. CTI’s training approach is practitioner-led, structured around real workplace application and designed for both individual professionals and organisational teams.

Winton Evers is CTI’s Lead Facilitator, providing continuity across the learning pathway and bringing practical experience in carbon management, accounting, finance, systems, risk and organisational implementation to CTI’s broader training delivery.

CTI’s training capability

A specialist training organisation, with experienced lead facilitation.

CTI’s capability is broader than any one individual. Its professional courses, organisational programs and learning pathways are built around a consistent practitioner-led approach, with Winton Evers serving as Lead Facilitator and supporting continuity across the training experience.

01

Specialist carbon education

CTI provides professional learning across carbon accounting, carbon offsetting, strategic carbon management and climate-disclosure implementation.

02

Training for organisations

Private cohorts and tailored programs allow organisations to build capability across finance, sustainability, reporting, operations and management teams.

03

Connected learning pathways

CTI’s modular structure allows relevant completed learning to carry forward, so professionals can build capability without unnecessary repetition.

04

Lead facilitation and continuity

Winton Evers leads facilitation across CTI’s learning pathways, supported by the broader CTI training team and a consistent practical approach to professional education.

Lead facilitator background

The practical experience behind CTI’s lead facilitation.

As CTI’s Lead Facilitator, Winton brings a background shaped by industries where safety, resources, cost control and environmental impact all had to be managed in practical terms. That experience helps inform CTI’s emphasis on implementation rather than theory alone.

Before moving into carbon and energy management, Winton operated in the demolition industry. His former company, Becwins, maintained a building-materials recycling yard that recovered reusable materials which would otherwise have gone to landfill. Those reclaimed materials went on to be incorporated into homes across the Blue Mountains.

Working in a high-risk industry also made workplace safety a constant priority. Winton developed safer demolition methods and later became a TAFE facilitator in demolition supervision, asbestos awareness and construction induction.

When he encountered the GHG Accounting Standard, Winton saw a similar opportunity: organisations could improve both environmental and financial performance by understanding and managing the sources of their greenhouse gas emissions.

He completed CTI’s Certificate IV in Carbon Management in late 2010 and has since trained more than 100 students at Certificate IV level.

How CTI teaches

Carbon capability connected to the way organisations actually work.

CTI training is designed to bridge technical carbon requirements with financial, operational and management systems.

01

Carbon accounting with financial discipline

CTI applies financial and management-accounting discipline to carbon inventories, helping participants understand how carbon data can be organised, checked and used within established organisational systems.

02

Risk and disclosure awareness

Training considers climate and sustainability-related risks, financial disclosure expectations and the need for information that can stand up to internal and external scrutiny.

03

Implementation over theory

The focus is on systems, data, boundaries, emission factors, decisions and practical implementation rather than abstract theory alone.

04

Lead facilitation with a consistent approach

As CTI’s Lead Facilitator, Winton helps provide continuity and a consistent teaching approach across the learning pathway, connecting concepts between courses and supporting CTI’s broader training delivery.

Professional application

How practitioner experience informs CTI training.

Carbon accounting systems

Aligning carbon-accounting processes with financial and management-accounting processes, including practical ways to organise and reconcile carbon information.

Climate and sustainability risk

Developing risk-management systems that help organisations respond to financial-disclosure requirements and customer expectations.

Energy and environmental performance

Connecting emissions information with practical opportunities to improve energy efficiency, resource use and organisational performance.

Collaboration across disciplines

Recognising that successful carbon projects often require finance, sustainability, engineering, operations, management and other disciplines to work together.

Lead facilitator in the community

Putting energy knowledge to work beyond the classroom.

Winton is Treasurer of Sunshine Project for Community Inc, an ACNC-registered charity that helps fund renewable-energy systems for not-for-profit organisations supporting people in need.

Sunshine Project also runs community energy workshops designed to help people understand practical ways to reduce their energy bills.

Renewable energy: supporting systems for local not-for-profit organisations.
Community education: practical workshops focused on household energy costs.
Professional philosophy: useful environmental action has to work in the real world.
